Protests at National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Srinagar over alleged blasphemous remarks targeting a particular religion by a student from outside J&K escalated on Thursday, spreading to other college campuses in the city. The officials urged Afghan nationals to ignore the "fraudulent'' communication saying these diplomats, led by former ambassador Farid Mamundzay, were based abroad and had no locus standi in the internal affairs of the Afghanistan embassy.
Lt Gen Dwivedi indicated presence of retired Pakistani soldiers among terrorists in J&K. The recent Rajouri encounter resulted in the death of 5 army personnel and a top Lashkar-e-Toiba operative. The encounter also revealed the killings of 10 civilians in Rajouri and attacks on security forces at Kandi. The two terrorists killed in the Bajimaal encounter were Quari, a top Pakistan-based Lashkar commander, and a sniper. Lt Gen Dwivedi emphasized the importance of neutralizing these highly trained foreign terrorists.

Steel lattice girders have been cut twice using gas cutters. Around 45-47 meters have been covered, with around 17-20 meters remaining.
Revanth Reddy, the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, has announced that if the Congress party comes to power, they will rename Pragathi Bhavan as 'Ambedkar Prajaa Bhavan'. A Maratha outfit on Tuesday withdrew its opposition to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' visit to Lord Vitthal temple in Pandharpur to perform puja on the occasion of Kartiki Ekadashi, which falls on Thursday. The members of Sakal Maratha Samaj (SMS) had asked the temple trust to not invite Fadnavis for the conventional annual puja till their demands, including the issuance of Kunbi caste certificates to the Maratha community and the construction of Maratha Bhavan in Pandharpur and a sub-centre of SARTHI, are fulfilled.
Anjali Damania, an anti-corruption activist, has given a deadline to Chhagan Bhujbal, the food and civil supplies minister, and his nephew Sameer Bhujbal, to settle the dues owed to a widow whose property they allegedly grabbed. Damania stated that if the dues are not paid, they will hold a peaceful vigil outside the building. Sameer Bhujbal had agreed to pay the family Rs 8.5 crores after the intervention of an NCP leader, but Damania insists that the entire sum should be paid upfront.
After the Silkyara tunnel collapsed, the rescue agencies are employing a multi-pronged approach to save 41 workers. Vertical drilling is considered the fastest way to reach the stranded workers, with preparations underway for the drilling exercise. Additionally, rescue agencies are exploring using a micro drone to assess the feasibility of creating a lifeline for the workers. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has appointed US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and African Union youth envoy Chido Mpemba as co-chairs of an international commission to address the issue of loneliness. Loneliness is a global health threat that is associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety, and premature death. The commission will work towards outlining solutions over a three-year period to build social connections and establish social connections as a global health priority. Loneliness affects all age groups worldwide, not just older people in high-income countries.
Former J&K minister and Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party chairman Chaudhary Lal Singh, who was arrested by ED in Jammu on November 7 in connection with an alleged money laundering case, was sent to judicial custody for two weeks by a CBI special designated court on Saturday.The 64-year-old Lal Singh appeared before the court through video conferencing. The case involves an educational trust run by his wife and former MLA Kanta Andotra under PMLA.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during a rally in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Despite the Supreme Court's ban on firecrackers, Delhi and the rest of NCR saw a significant increase in pollution levels during Diwali. The PM2.5 levels rose dramatically, breaching national safety and WHO standards. The pollution was attributed to emissions from firecrackers, stubble burning, and adverse meteorological conditions. A portion of an under-construction tunnel of the Char Dham all-weather highway project collapsed in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. Around 40 laborers are feared trapped inside. Rescue teams are working to reach them and provide oxygen and food supply. The tunnel, part of the project to widen roads connecting four Himalayan shrines, is one of the longest tunnels and will reduce the distance between Uttarkashi and Yamunotri by 26km. The collapse occurred near the Silkayara side of the tunnel, but there is a safe space between the landslide area and the tunnel's dead-end.

The Bihar assembly has passed bills increasing quotas for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and Extremely Backward Classes in government jobs and educational institutions from 50% to 65%.
