Terrorists kill off-duty cop in Kashmir

NHAI monetises two completed national highway stretches for Rs 6,584 crore

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has successfully auctioned two completed highway stretches for a total of Rs 6,584 crore under its monetisation programme. The first project, the 84-km Allahabad Bypass in Uttar Pradesh, was awarded to Cube Highways for Rs 2,156 crore, while the Lalitpur–Sagar-Lakhnadon (316 km) project in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh was awarded to IRB Infra Trust for Rs 4,428 crore. The private players will be responsible for maintaining and operating the highways for a period of 20 years, during which they will collect user fees.

Rashmi Ranjan Swain appointed in-charge DGP of J&K

Two men commit suicide in Chhatrapati Sambajhinagar and Hingoli seeking Maratha quota

A 28-year-old man in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar committed suicide, leaving behind a message demanding quota for the Maratha community. Woman gets 20 years for aiding rape of 16-year-old niece

Calcutta high court: Govt can't acquire land till full compensation paid

The Calcutta high court has said that the West Bengal government cannot acquire land until compensation has been paid in full. Justice Bibek Chaudhuri on Wednesday made it clear that "Section 38 of the 2013 Act creates a bar against taking possession of the acquired land before payment of the entire compensation amount" and ordered status quo on a possession dispute till December 15. The land was acquired to construct a bypass connecting Chanchal to NH81.
