Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha criticized mainstream parties for opposing land allotment to the landless and homeless, accusing them of not wanting peace in the region. The Indian Supreme Court has issued a handbook to be used by judges as a guide to gender-just language. The handbook encourages the use of neutral language that avoids patriarchal stereotypes used for decades. Furthermore, the handbook includes a sub-chapter on gender fluidity and discusses harmful stereotypes that can exist with respect to any gender identity. A bailey bridge located over Chorgad river at Nelong valley region of Gangotri national park (GNP) in Uttarkashi district has collapsed after its embankment got washed away due to the recent heavy rainfall. As per sources, the footbridge is important for the Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) as it connects Uttarkashi to the Indo-China border via Himachal Pradesh, and is used for long-range patrolling. Aiming to deter hit and run cases, the government has proposed a new provision of up to 10-year jail term and fine for offending drivers, if the accused flees from the scene or fails to report the incident to police or magistrate soon after the incident. Currently, there is no such provision in the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

A 37-year-old mother holding her two minor sons and fleeing a mob that had burned down their house in Manipur on May 3 was waylaid by a group of men, pinned down and allegedly gang-raped, she said in a Zero FIR registered on August 9, over three months after the crime.
