Shelter home kids not visited by kin to be added to adoption pool

Central Adoption Resource Authority (Cara) introduces a new process to include children from child care institutions as 'no visitation' and 'unfit guardian' categories for adoption. States and UTs to expedite registrations under Supreme Court directives. Over 9,000 children identified in new categories, with 11,546 in 'orphan, abandoned, and surrendered' category. Data submission deadline to Ministry is April 8.

Navy rescues hijacked Iranian vessel with Pakistani crew

Indian Navy successfully rescued hijacked Iranian fishing vessel Al-Kambar 786 with 23-member Pakistani crew in Arabian Sea. Prompt action led to interception of vessel and surrender of armed pirates. Operation lasted over 12 hours with coercive measures to ensure crew safety. 14 hurt in MP's Mahakal temple fire, gulal chemical suspected to have triggered it

At least 14 devotees and priests were injured in a fire inside the sanctum sanctorum of Mahakal Temple in Ujjain in the early hours of Holi, on Monday. It's the first time that such an incident happened at the Jyotirlinga temple. The fire broke out during Bhasmarti when devotees were showering colours as part of Holi celebrations, temple management committee chairman and Ujjain collector Neeraj Kumar Singh said.

Naveen Jindal gets ticket hours after quitting Congress

BJP on Sunday decided to field Naveen Jindal, who heads steel and power giant JSPL, from Kurukshetra, hours after he switched over to the saffron party. Jindal — an accused in the coal scam, which was a key election issue for BJP in 2014 — was twice elected to Lok Sabha from Kurukshetra. Indian Air Force activates another road stretch as an emergency airstrip

IAF conducts operations on ELF airstrip in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh. Sukhoi-30MKI fighters and Hawk advanced jet trainers successfully carried out “low overshoots”.
